So easy to read and understand. It includes the science if you want to dwell on the details, but does not require a scientific training to grasp the ideas nor logic regarding the importance of maintaining a slight alkaline pH in the body's tissues.
Only about 100 pages, it's a quick read. The main idea is that for health, the body must maintain a slightly alkaline pH - about 7.4 in fact. Aihara makes the case that disease conditions arise in body tissues of pH that are different to this number. He gives plenty of examples, and makes a good initial case for his thesis.
He has some wonderful Eastern advice for health such as "gardening in bare feet is best done in the morning" which are a slight relief to the highly reductionist nature of the Western biochemistry in the book. (That is not to say that the reductionist Western biochemistry isn't important - it is.)
Overall, this is a quick read on an important subject. Recommended.
ACID AND ALKALINE totally met my needs. I am very glad I purchased this book. It is unique. I don't think I could get this particular inforamation anywhere else. Thanks so much.

At last, I understand.
Some people have said it's too complicated. Well, I've not studied biology or biochemistry, and I get it. Tho' I have studied the earth sciences, so maybe I'm not the best judge, but anyway, I loved it, because it EXPLAINS how the digestive system works: what happens if you eat acid foods, and if you eat alkaline foods - so now you can make reasoned choices.
Carl Ferre's Acid Alkaline Companion (also short, and packed with info) gives detailed food tables to help you to see what you're eating - and potentially what to swap out/in to improve your diet and thereby your health.
