I know not everybody uses Shopify, and in fact I tell people in Low Hanging System not to sign up for it until they’re making sales on Amazon, Etsy, and eBay.

I almost didn’t write this post as I didn’t want to alienate anyone, but at the same time there are some great apps I’d be remiss not to share with you.

(If you don’t use Shopify, no worries – I’ve got your back next week. ;) And if you missed my recent Easter promotion tools or “how to get on a gift guide” posts, check those out!)

On this post, I’ve collected some of my favorite apps and sorted them by Free, Free-To-Paid (apps that start as free and have upsells), and Paid apps.

3 things before we dig in:

1. FYI: You can always find the most popular free Shopify apps by going to this link. It’s worth checking every once in a while to see if anything great came out.

2. There are 15 different apps listed here. Don’t feel like you need to try each one. I gave a brief description so you can grab whatever appeals to you now.  You can always bookmark this post and come back later to try more.

3. If  you don’t yet have Shopify and want it, use this link to get 20% off your monthly fees. The discount shows up after your trial ends.

Okay, let’s go!

Free Shopify Apps

Wanelo

This app will take all of your items and insert them into the Wanelo marketplace. Getting listed costs nothing and you only ever pay a 15% commission after your item sells.

I often make sales via Wanelo without doing anything extra.

Admittedly I don’t get as many sales as I used to from them but considering they’re zero-risk and easy to set up, it’s all icing on the cake.

Facebook Store

Facebook Store lets you sell your products directly on Facebook so customers don’t have to leave the site in order to make a purchase.

You can learn how to sign up for it right here.

Better Coupon Box

With this app, every time a customer comes to your store they’ll see a pop-up with an offer for a discount in exchange for following one of your social media profiles.

This is a pretty cool win-win: you get more social media love and the coupon code incentivizes someone to spend money at your store.

I think Wheelio is a bit better (see paid apps), but this is a good alternative.

Sales Pop

This app will help showcase the items other people are buying on your site. It’s an easy way to build social proof and pretty customizable.

ALT Text

The ALT Text app helps you add ALT tags to the pictures on your store. It’s an easy, low-hanging thing you can do to get more SEO to your store.

It will automatically create alt text to your store’s images and/or you can make manual edits.

Facebook Chat

This app will let you talk with your customers in real-time via Facebook chat.

Free-To-Paid Shopify Apps

Klaviyo

This app is fantastic for email marketing with Shopify.

It comes with multi-email abandoned cart sequences (these are emails to people who came to your store, started the order process, then left), a welcome series, winback campaigns and order follow-ups.

You can also set up newsletters, make product recommendations, work with Facebook ads, and a lot more.

I originally heard about Klaviyo in Don’s masterminds as most of the “big guys” (and gals!) use it.

The app is free for 250 contacts and then goes up according to how many emails you have in their system. If you implement, it’s very easy to earn your money back.

Smart Search

The default search bar on Shopify isn’t the most intuitive. If I type in “pillowcase” on my store, for example, I see 8 results. If I type in “pillow case”, I get 15. This app gives search suggestions, does spell checks, has functions for “did you mean to type in ___”, saves peoples’ search histories, finds synonyms, and so on.

It’s free for up to 25 products and then $9/month for up to 500 products or $18/month for up to 5,000.

This app is good if you have a lot of of products, and it’s AWESOME if you translate your store into multiple languages where things aren’t always flawless.

(Side note – if you’d like to learn about selling internationally, this course is incredible.)

Currency Converter

This simple app will automatically convert your prices to a user’s local currency based on their location.

You get 5 free currencies or you can upgrade to the “Elite” version for $9.95/month and for all currencies.

Yotpo

The Yotpo app will email customers on your behalf to generate product reviews which you can then share via Twitter and Facebook.

You can upgrade to get social integration (sharing reviews to Facebook and Twitter), collect user-generated photos (and push them to Pinterest), have comments uploaded to Google Reviews, have a shoppable Instagram page, and a bit more.

Paid Shopify Apps

Wheelio

This is a really cool app that helps build your opt-ins. If people go to leave your site, they can spin a “wheel” to get some kind of a prize.

It’s a fun way to get people to sign up for your list, and as I mentioned before – giving people coupon codes basically incentivizes them to shop on your store.

This app is customizable and is $14.92/month with a free trial.

Kit

This is an automated tool that sends thank you emails to your customers, runs Facebook and Instagram ads, and does retargeting for you.

You can start using Kit for a 14-day free trial. After that, monthly pricing plans range from $10-$25.

Lucky Orange

With this app, you can run heat maps on your site to see the actions customers are taking, do live sales chats, host polls, and more.

You can start using Lucky Orange for a 7-day free trial. After that, prices range from$10-$50/month.

Order Lookup App

This app helps your customers look up their orders without having to go through your customer service.

You can start using Order Lookup App for a 7-day free trial. After that, Order Lookup costs $10/month for your first 100 orders, and all subsequent orders are billed at $0.05.

Gift Reggie

Gift Reggie lets your customers create gift registries and wish lists on your store’s site that they can share with family and friends. This is awesome for birthdays and upcoming holidays, and there are cool social sharing tools so that users can easily share their wish lists with their friends.

Their pricing starts from $5/month for 5 active registries and unlimited wish lists, which is likely all you’ll need. The top tier is $40/month for 100 active registries and unlimited wish lists.

I hope you found value in this post. If you’re a Shopify user, I’d love to hear what YOUR favorite apps are and what you think about my list of favorites. Leave a comment and let me know.
