7’s

7’s believe everything is good, people are good, and they live in an ideal world where nobody is hurt. They don’t want to be near pain and want everyone to be optimistic. They are often narcissistic, generalists, and epicures. They’re always looking for the good life, think in generalities, and are focused and in love with themselves. They’re over-idealists who see only the positive, ignore the negative, and don’t dream of looking at the dark side.

They are often planning an ideal world in their imaginations and may try to make it happen. They usually don’t finish projects – or even start.

They love to have fun, are optimistic, like to party, and love to have a good time with others. They don’t like pain, whiners, and complainers. They feel if other people are always focused on pain they need to stay away. They don’t want to hear any whining or negativity.

Key Word(s):

Planning

What They Consider Ideal In Others And What They Consider A Major Offense:

Ideal: Cheerfulness

Offense: Seriousness

Talking Style:

Their joy is to gossip, tell stories, and keep your attention. They usually are entertaining with a one-way performance on their part.

Negative Emotion/Passions:

Gluttony – They overconsume – usually on life. They may overconsume food but because they’re concerned about their appearance, it’s not always food. They believe that if some is good, more is better, and most is best. They are gluttons for pleasure.

Under Stress And Intimacy:

They go to a 5 under intimacy and may be an observer, intellectualizing everything. They may have difficulty making intimate contact, will need sweetness without depth, and are allergic to coercion.

They go to a 1 under stress and can become bitchy and nitpicky. They will stick to principles and try to control others with them and become moralistic.

How To Notice One:

They are often the life of the party and have many people around them. They are often performers and entertainers.

Doors Of Compensation (Can be used under your normal number, the one for stress, or the one for intimacy):

Gluttony

Level 1: Overconsume life, eating

Level 2: Overeating to point of droswiness

Level 3: Chronic overeating to point of impacting insulin levels, overconsumption of other things.

Looking good is important to 7’s so they’ll often go to anorexia or bulimia after they overeat.

Social Mode/Conservation Mode/Syntony Mode – How this type acts under each sub-type (each person has ONE sub-type):

Social: Social – Social limitations, sacrifice. In a social context there are social demands. Other people may complain sometimes which 7’s don’t like, so they may refuse to sacrifice. This limits them socially in being involved with others. They often have to pre-determine their social activities. If pain comes up in a relationship, they’re out.

Conservation: Castle defenders – They need to be with others with similar interests who defend their cause.

Syntony: Suggestibility – They live in a world of possibilities and can be manipulated by a smart partner in a sexual context.

Divine Ideas/Solution:

Divine Wisdom – These people may get to planning, but it’s mostly wanting. The trap for 7’s is idealism. The touch of the essence will bring him to live and work in the moment. Once we’re in touch with the essence we don’t need to create an ideal world. The world was made one way for a reason and were only seeing half of it if we focus on pleasure and never pain.

Life is about growing and new experiences. Once you accept the divine wisdom you can live in the real world, in the moment, without any more “someday”. ALL emotions must be experienced in the now.

One-Word Mantra:

Happiness

Virtues (Use these to decrease or eliminate the negative emotions):

Sobriety – Contextually, everyone can model the 7 – but 7’s get too caught up in only wanting fun, no pain. They’re gluttonous about pleasure. The opposite is sobriety, which will teach that happiness is pursued and it’s a step by step approach to get there.

7’s put themselves in an ideal world down the line and must remember to be in the NOW. Anyone can be happy, but nobody can become happy.

Sobriety means seeing things in perspective and stopping overconsuming. Choose to have fun as appropriate.

How To Stroke Them & How To Poke Them

Stroke:  Enter in their grand vision. Listen to their stories. Be entertained with them. Eat, smoke, drink, and laugh with them. Join their party. Listen to them.

Poke:  Anything that makes them feel paid, insult their appearance, attack their idealism, ignore them – don’t listen to them, take away their enjoyment, disrupt their plans.

“Before you can be a cynic you must first be an idealist.”

Business Applications – The Best Jobs For Them

Positives:  Actors, actresses, jobs with spirit of adventure, fast paced settings, multi-tasking, entertaining, making presentations, consultant, editor, master of ceremonies, health food store manager.

Not So Positives: Working under an exacting boss who wants implementation versus planning, repetitive work, CEO of bureaucracy, tailor, anything with precision and isolation. They also must avoid pain.

In Teams:

7’s like teams because they like a good time but productivity may be an issue.

Examples Of Type:

JFK, Tom Peters, Peter Pain, Kramer on Seinfeld, Richard Branson, Ben & Jerry’s
