With American Thanksgiving last week and December holidays right around the corner, we are deep into the holiday season now!
This is the biggest time of year for gift-giving – and if you’re following LHS principles you’re doing the 80/20.
And, if you’d like to see what else is selling, Etsy puts out a Holiday Trends Report that might help you with new design ideas.
Based on Etsy’s report, I came up with a list of the most relevant holiday trends happening on Etsy right now. They are…
- Glitz, glam, and bold colors
- Nature themes with rustic touches
- Retro motifs
- Winter weddings
- Home goods
- Wellness kits
- Targeted interests
- Goal-setting gifts
You can incorporate these trends into your design ideas and product offerings. That way, you can optimize your chances of creating products that customers love this holiday season.
Below, I talk about each of these trends in more depth. Plus, I share design ideas as well as examples from Etsy for your reference.
Let’s take a look…
Glitz, glam, and bold colors
This trend is all about shine and glamour with a focus on vivid, jewel-tone colors. These types of colors include magenta, emerald green, and sapphire blue. Fashionistas are looking for designs that turn heads and dazzle.
Design ideas
To tap into this trend, you can create text-based designs that appeal to fashionistas using vibrant colors for your fonts. For instance…
Too glam for my own good
Always In Vogue
Flirty, fun, and fabulous
Glam as hell
Include words like glamorous, classy, fabulous, style, chic, sassy, gorgeous, et cetera.
Here are some examples of Etsy products I found on Etsy:
Nature themes with rustic touches
With this trend, shoppers are embracing nature and going back to their roots. Think of cozy cabins surrounded by woodlands, with plenty of natural elements, like water, animals, plants, and trees.
Design ideas
Come up with text-based designs that speak to being in nature. For instance…
Life is better in the forest
The woods are my happy place
Man, I love nature
I’d rather be foraging for mushrooms
You can also include images of things like flowers and animals, like bears, moose, and deer. Mushrooms are also especially popular this year. You can create text-based designs based on these elements as well…
I bet you a buck I love deer more than you
You amoose me
Here are some examples I found on Etsy:
Retro motifs
Retro is all about bringing the past back in style. It’s vintage chic. Think of prints, patterns, and sayings inspired by previous decades.
Design ideas
You can Google popular sayings from specific decades, especially the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Then, you can incorporate those sayings into your designs. For instance…
You’re the grooviest, baby
Don’t hate me because I was born in the 90s
Only rad vibes allowed
Take me back to the 70s
Here are some examples f
Winter weddings
Late spring and early summer is the wedding season. But winter weddings are popular as well. And this trend focuses on creating elegant winter wedding designs.
Design ideas
You can create items to give to the bride and groom on their special day. You can create thank-you gifts for brides and grooms to give to their wedding parties. Or you can come up with designs aimed to be wedding favors. And you can incorporate wintery elements, like snowflakes. For instance…
Merry Wedding Day!
Wishing you the merriest of marriages
Warm wishes on your special day
Merry Maid of Honor
Here are some examples:
Targeted interests
Targeted interests refers to people’s hobbies and passions. Think of designs inspired by interests such as sports, music, gaming, and travel. You probably have a bunch of designs that fit this trend.
Design ideas
Almost anything goes with this trend. From hobbies like knitting and stamp collecting to athletics like softball and bowling, if people are interested in it, you can make a design about it. As an inspiration source, use my Master List of Design Ideas. It includes categories for a wide range of targeted interests, including…
- Hobbies
- Collecting
- Occupations
- Athletics
- Music
- Countries & Nationalities
- Dog Breeds
- Mixed Dog Breeds

Goal-setting gifts
This holiday trend on Etsy is all about encouraging people to reach their goals. Think of goal-setting journals, planners, and items featuring motivational quotes.
Design ideas
For this trend, you can come up with designs based on motivational quotes to help push people to pursue their goals. For instance…
Be brave, be bold, be fearless.
Set a goal. Smash the goal. Rinse and repeat.
This girl is a goal digger.
Good things come to those who bust their butts.
You can also come up with your goal-setting printables to sell. You can create things like digital planners, goal-setting calendars, habit trackers, and food and exercise logs. To learn more about how to create winning digital products, check out my Printables Profit Course.
Here are some examples I found on Etsy:
Wellness kits
This trend is all about helping people stay healthy and organized during the holidays. Think of designs that promote self-care, motivation, and relaxation.
Design ideas
With this trend, you can bundle a few of your items together to create a “kit.” For instance, you could pair an inspiring coffee mug with a digital planner. Or you could bundle a habit tracker with a travel mug and candle. Many of your goal-setting designs and products would likely go well together.
Home goods
In general, home goods are trending this holiday season on Etsy. This holiday trend on Etsy is more about the product than the design. So if you haven’t yet added any wall art, Christmas ornaments, or candles to your inventory, now is a good time to do so. All of these items make great holiday gifts, and shoppers are eager to buy them.
