My hair is naturally curly. And when I brush it out, it looks like I have ten feet worth of hair on either side of my head. Like I have a huge afro.

Yesterday it was raining outside. So I left my hair looking not-so-stellar, figuring the rain would ruin any work I tried to do anyway.

I smiled at the cashier when I paid. He positively beamed at me. He gave me a huge smile and exclaimed,  “I LOVE your hair!”.

And since I recently got back from Hawaii, I’m still a bit tan. While I love the being tan part, the part that isn’t as exciting to me is the amount of freckles that come with it. After a few days in the sun it feels like I go from a few freckles to mega-freckle face.

The other day I went out for a drink with a guy I briefly dated. He told me, “I love your freckles. I love everything about you, but your freckles are my favorite part.”

I’m forever being reminded that it’s pretty futile to do anything but celebrate yourself.
